Online Research Education
While there are many places offering genealogical/family history education, UGA offers several different options.
Webinars
UGA offers webinars on a wide variety of topics, including DNA, how-to topics for professionals (and aspiring professionals), and other webinars of general interest. The live webinars are available for free to members and non-members alike. Recordings of past webinars are available to members.
Summit of Excellence
In addition to webinars, UGA offers the Summit of Excellence conference. This fall’s Summit of Excellence will be held virtually September 21, 22, and 23, and includes speakers on Getting Started, Technology, International and Immigration, Methodology and Problem Solving, Writing and Organization, DNA, and Records. Registration is currently open.
Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy
Affiliated with UGA is the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG). SLIG offers programs three times a year: a week-long intensive in January and multi-week courses in the spring and fall. Each course is taught by top experts in the field of genealogy. Registration for SLIG Class is currently open, as well.
